      Favorite 5: Christmas Movies

      November 24th, 2007 | by amanda | General, NaBloPoMo

      There have been a lot of good movies on the tube the past few days. I am so excited to watch my favorite Christmas movies this year. I have already watched bits and pieces of a few of them this season.

      Here is a list of my favorite 5 Christmas movies.

      1. images.jpeg

      Home Alone. I watched this a zallion times as a kid. I like the beginning of the movie when he has the house to himself. I thought it was cool. “Keep the change you filthy animal!”

      2.images-1.jpeg

      White Christmas. “snow! Snow! SNOW!” The best and most entertaining classic Christmas movie. My sister and I would sing the ‘Sisters!’ song all the time. “Sisters, Sisters, There were never such devoted sisters…”

      3.images-2.jpeg

      Love Actually. I love the stories and how all the characters’ intertwine with each other. Each couple shows a different aspect of love.”Eight is a lot of legs, David.”

      4.images-3.jpeg

      You’ve Got Mail. LOVE IT. My daughter is even named Annabelle, like Annabelle Fox in the movie. It is a good, clean, romantic comedy, and it is set in New York City. “Don’t you think daisies are the friendliest flower?”

      5.images-4.jpeg

      Bridget Jones’ Diary. It begins and ends with Christmas. Colin Firth in a reindeer jumper. “You like me just the way I am.”
      Come to think of it - this list contains two Colin Firth movies. It’s a good list.

      What are your favorite Christmas movies?

      P.S.

      Thanks Dawn for the favorite five idea.

        You’re welcome! It’s less intimidating than doing a Top 10 list, don’t ya think?

        I love all the movies you chose but have never seen White Christmas! Gasp! Maybe once as a teen while babysitting, but I don’t remember. I love love LOVE Love Actually and watch it a few times a year, but it is indeed a great Christmas movie. I love how that crap song climbs the charts and how funny that singer is. And of course, the Colin Firth storyline. I’m also always quite moved by the ending, when the boy is running through the airport and Firth is marching through Portugal, both of them looking for their sweethearts. And Hugh Grant is so cute in it. And when Emma Thompson finds out her hubby has been cheating (sorta), her emotional reaction is heartbreaking. Oh my gosh, time to put it in the dvd player.

        Favorite part of Home Alone? When he buys the toothbrush. So precocious.

        And You’ve Got Mail. Yummy movie. When I went to NYC in 2000, my friends and I sought out several places on the Upper West Side that were scenes in the film, and we ate at Cafe Lalo about 3 times (where she thinks she’s stood up). It’s the cutest place!

        I look forward to more of your fave fives!

        I’d have to list the following as my favorite 5 Christmas movies:

        * It’s a Wonderful Life
        * A Christmas Story
        * Love Actually
        * The Family Stone
        * The Holiday

        ooh! ‘The Holiday’ reminds me of ‘Home for the Holidays’. I can’t help but love Holly Hunter and Robert Downey Jr.
