Daniel and I were sitting in the car stuck in traffic and he asked me, “If you could open up a restaurant of any kind, what would you pick?
I would love to open up a Dessert Bar. I would sell all kinds of desserts, coffee, and wine. You could order at the counter and then stay as long as you would like. It sounds so good. It would be a little like Candlelight Coffeehouse here in town, but with more dessert options and no food options. When Metropolitan was open in the Quarry, they were a little like this. A Dessert Bar sounds so great. An after dinner hang out place.
Daniel said that he would open up an American food restaurant with steaks and wings. A real manly man place. Maybe some large screens. He would also like it to be a place where you can sit around and have great conversations with your friends. Like an American pub.
What kind of restaurant would you open?

We decided when we were first married that we’d like to open a burger/bbq restaurant someday… in a small-ish town. We, too, would like it to be a place where people just come and hang out and get to know each other. We want it to be part of our ministry, not only to our customers, but we also want to use that opportunity to show employees how they can serve God in the workplace (especially in the food service industry). Sorry that was long
Hopefully we’ll actually do it someday.

First of all my restaurant would serve fried okra. I think I would do a southern cuisine joint. Oh, and lots of pies. I think pie and coffee is a wonderful treat.

i think i’d like to open a small, classic, basic diner. and the counter is essential to that, too.

I’d like a cross between you and Daniel…for daytime. A Euro cafe type place in a relaxing location with simple but tasty foods - sandwiches and appetizers (and your desserts
- with wine,(GOOD) beer (no having sex in a canoe), coffee, and flavored teas (like mint..mmmm). A place for long, leisurely lunches with friends or lovers.

I am planning to open my own desert bar in a few years. Barry and I have been putting things in action this year. We have the name and a few things done.

I would open up health conscious restaurant with flavorful food and a variety of vegetarian cuisines and fresh fruit fat free drinks. It would offer calorie counting for each entree as well. The style would be trendy and cool.

Lynn, I would totally come to your restaurant! I also thought about some vegetarian fare for a restaurant. Have you eaten at Green near downtown yet? On your next day off, let me know and I would love to go with you.

I’ve spent some quality time in Chicago and they have some really neat places…similar to the ones each person has described. One of the restaurants had midget boxing…which i don’t think any of you mentioned in your “dream” restaurants. Now, I’m not saying that I have a dream restaurant (I simply enjoy good wings, sports and trivia at BW3’s)…but If I did, it would serve Smirnoff, have icecream and occasionally would entertain with midget boxing!

Pete, I’m glad you’re my “not afraid to say something inappropriate” friend.
You know they print instructions on Mexican hot chocolate in pictures cause….

…but what about midget BOWLING….?
(i mean ‘little person pin toppling’, of course….)

Ray(hubby) and I would love to open up a drive through Barbacoa place. Maybe later on down the road, add a small bakery selection as well. All of the Barbacoa places that I know of you have to park, get down, get in, and get out. This way, you could go in your comfy pajamas, get your breakfast, and go home and chow down.
