Both Amanda and I are frugal about buying things for the house or ourselves. We love to find a deal and will bargain whenever we can (but apparently not at Best Buy - sorry JD). I love one of Dave Ramsey’s sayings - “Never Pay Retail!”
Because of our cheapskate ways we sometimes scan Craigslist for deals. We like it better than eBay because you can limit your search to local sellers so you can jump in your car and go pick up your item (instant gratification), there’s no shipping (extra cost) and eBay just plain confuses annoys me sometimes (power wha?, 15 more minutes why?).
Recently Amanda and I both hit jackpot’s on the List:
Amanda scored a table and 4 chairs that retail at Ikea for $100. She got them for $40!
Since my mobile phone decided not to hold a charge for longer than 30 min, thus becoming an im-mobile phone, I needed a phone. We were going to buy the cheapest phone T-Mobile offered to get us by until August when our contract is complete and we can switch providers to a better phone (I know decidedly not frugal). But the cheapest phone sans-contract was $70. I decided to check the list for a phone I could also use for email. I found a Blackberry 7290 for $75. I called the lister and he said he had sold ‘that one’ but had another that he would give me for $60 because of a small (I still can’t see it) scratch. So there I was in an HEB parking lot at 9:30 p.m. on a Sunday. There was something strange about conducting a transaction through a guy’s passenger window, especially because he didn’t turn off his engine. But two hours later, $60 blackberry and $9.99/mo data plan in hand, I was in business!

So where do you find deals online or off?

Ok so what are you paying $9.99 for? I know it’s not the blackberry service! I am curious. If so what carrier are you with?

@Lynn
$9.99 is just for the Blackberry email service. The T-Mobile rep said I would not be impressed with the web from this old school model, so I saved some $$$ and went with email only.
