A friend of mine called today with some wedding questions. Her daughter is getting married next month. After a 45 minute conversation about cakes, champagne, DJ play lists, slide shows, and a schedule, I signed on to take a couple of tasks. I have coordinated two weddings since my own wedding four years ago. I am J.Lo from The Wedding Planner for the day. And I have to admit I love it. I don’t think I could stop the words from coming out of my mouth, “Sure, I can be there at 4:00 to start setting up for a reception that will take place in two hours from the beginning of set up time.”
I also volunteered to do the slide show, only on the condition that I get electronic copies of the photos. Scanning is the hardest part. I will also be making the map and directions sheet and possibly the program. They don’t need me to actually print them, but design them. I can’t wait to play with new fonts.
Honestly, I am excited about helping another wedding. It’s stressful and so much fun at the same time.

[…] I mentioned before that I get to be J.Lo for the day and help my friend daughter’s wedding. I also signed up to design the programs and the directions sheet to the reception, because they wanted something simple that they could print themselves. (Her husband works for Xerox.) In addition I also spent a few hours this week making an 11-minute slideshow in iMovie. Do you know how hard it is to pick out songs? For real. I was digging through iTunes last night. They are pretty traditional folks. I ended up using “My Girl,” “Sisters” (from White Christmas), “L-O-V-E” (Wayne Newton version), “I Can’t Smile Without You” by Barry Manilow, “Beautiful Day” by U2, and “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None the Richer.
