My friend Deb over at SanDiegoMomma.com is hosting creative writing prompts every Tuesday. I am so glad to be stretching my writing skills in this way. After I started my reponse I realized how rusty my skills are.
Today’s prompt:
Write a nonsense poem. Make up words. Create silly sentences. Whatever. Just make it all a bunch of make believe and not making sense-it-ness.
My nonsense poem:
How My Favorite Snack Was Created
The pizza crust lay lonely on the plate
Looking up at the glass of Coca-Cola
It was love at first sight
She was tall, dark
And had a bubbly personality
The pizza crust whispers sweet nothings
Woo’ing Coca-Cola
“I may be food
but you will like my Amora”
She felt tingly inside
And knew this must be love
The pizza crust picked up a leftover olive
Bent on his only knee and proposed
Coca-Cola fizzled with glee
“Yes! Yes! I shall marry you!”
The pizza crust leaped in excitement
Bounding right into the glass
Coca-Cola thrilled to be together
Until they got eaten
Bonus Poem:
A couple of weeks ago I wrote this poem when I obviously wasn’t feeling well.
Nauseated
stomach is turning
upside down
all around
churning
swooshing, sloshing
knock. knock. knock.
here it comes
better run
need to make it
pull hair back
quick!
lift the lid
Oh!
pink. red. yellow chunks
What did I eat?
Tropical punch doesn’t
taste bad coming up
Am I done?
get it all out
blow my nose
one more hack
Yep. all done
hmm. minty fresh again.
Hello pillow!
don’t move.

Yeah!!! I loved them (except for the “chunks” part…poor you!).
I’m so glad you’re doing this with me! I can’t wait until more.

wow! what a peak into your creative brain. love the thought of a coke dating a pizza. and i have to say, it would have never occurred to me to write about nausea. that’s creative genius!

The first one was cute. It brought back fun memories of our Scrabble match. The second one was well written and very descriptive but not so cute. It brought back not so fun memories of being sick. PS sorry to hear you were sick.

I can’t believe you shared the 2nd poem with the world.
