Good news this morning!

I don’t have diabetes! I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant. I was able to control my blood sugars then with a strict diet and testing myself seven times a day. Yesterday was my six week check up at the doctor and today they called me with my results. For those of you who know blood sugar numbers, my fasting number was 69 and my two hour test was 98!! Awesome. Hooray! So I can eat cake now like a normal person, not worrying about my blood sugar number and only worrying about my waistline. :) Oh, I can’t wait fit back in my normal clothes again. :)

I just knew that your test would be normal. Unfortunately having had gestational diabetes does indicate that you might develop it in your next pregnancy and when you get older. Knowing that you can probably prevent it from happening by maintaining a healthy diet and exercise program. Love Mom
PS: I wish my numbers were that great!

    That is great news!

I just took my diabetes test on Monday but I haven’t heard back on the results. I didn’t have it with either of the boys but I still feel nervous about the results. I am more curious about what my hemoglobin levels are. The were a little low earlier on in the pregnancy and they have to be 9 to have the baby at the birth center here.

Anyway–we have a saying around our house–it took 9 months to gain all the baby weight so you have to give yourself AT LEAST 9 months to get it off (or in my case wait until I am done nursing and the last 10ish pounds fall off easily). I remember really wanting to wear my favorite jeans again….I’m glad I got to wear them again before getting pregnant again!

By the way–the baby looks fabulous and I LOVE her hair!

Oh that is awesome news Amanda. That is a testimony for me to keep at it because I am a high risk for diabetes as well.

    Amelia –

Thanks for the encouragement! According to the scale that I go by at the doctor’s office, yesterday I was only half a pound away from my weight when I was nine weeks pregnant. I just need to firm up my stomach now. I am not sure how much working out I should do, because I have read/heard that it can decrease your milk supply. So I am doing light workouts and will hit the gym hard after I am done nursing.

Btw, nursing is now going great and I can now see that I can do this for a long time.

I don’t remember knowing what my hemoglobin levels were. But I will pray that yours will be perfect so you can go to the birth center!
