We sing this worship song at church called Let It Rain. It is a pretty simple song.
[box icon="none"]Let it rain, let it rain.
Open the floodgates of Heaven.
I feel The rains of your Love,
I feel The winds of your Spirit .
And now the heartbeat of heaven,
Led us here(x2)
Let it rain,
Let it rain.
Open the flood gates of heaven,
Let it rain,
Let it rain.
Open the flood gates of heaven,
Let it rain,
Let it rain.
Singing the words “let it rain” over and over again gives you time while you sing to ponder “what does this even mean?” Every time I sing this praise song it means something different to me. One Sunday morning I reflected on how people are in pain or experiencing injustice on earth. I prayed that God would rain His mercy, grace, and justice to those who are suffering. Other times I pray that His blessings would rain down on those in hard times.

Today I took that song to mean a downpour of His words. It seems that every day this week I have clearly heard God speak to me. On Friday I heard God in a conversation with my husband. On Saturday it was through the Bible and also through a book I am reading. On Sunday the sermon read my mail. On Monday I heard God through an e-book that I started reading. Today it was through a blog post.
God is raining down His word on me. Last Summer I was desperate to hear His voice. This Summer I am overwhelmed by His love for me and His faithfulness. I am so thankful and grateful for this downpour of His word.
What does it mean to you when you ask God to let it rain?
