I know it’s a little thing, but for the past two nights Annabelle has slept for over 6 hours straight! She went to bed a little after 11:30 p.m. and woke up around 6:20 a.m.
I don’t know if I could be any more proud or well rested.
While reading a magazine I saw a short review of the book “The First Word: The search for the Origins of Language” by Christine Kenneally. The review states that the book is “a useful introduction to the exciting new field of evolutionary linguistics.” Apparently the players in the field deny the role of natural selection in the development of language and the field is young.
So my question is: Were Adam and Eve created with knowledge of language, or was language developed later?
An ancillary question is: How did Adam and Eve communicate with God?
Annabelle’s friend Brielle came over for a visit today. They totally had fun playing wth each other. You know, as much fun as a five month old and an almost two month old can have together.
I don’t have diabetes! I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant. I was able to control my blood sugars then with a strict diet and testing myself seven times a day. Yesterday was my six week check up at the doctor and today they called me with my results. For those of you who know blood sugar numbers, my fasting number was 69 and my two hour test was 98!! Awesome. Hooray! So I can eat cake now like a normal person, not worrying about my blood sugar number and only worrying about my waistline. Oh, I can’t wait fit back in my normal clothes again.
Annabelle got her passport photo taken today. I am really happy that she had her eyes open and she wasn’t crying or asleep. On her passport application her height is 1 ft. 9 inches.
It’s official, I am now a stay-at-home-mom. Yesterday was my last day on payroll at the Air Force Personnel Center. It took me about three days of going to Randolph AFB in three hour increments to complete my two outprocessing checklists. I will never understand why I had to find obscure offices hidden in a maze of cubicles and hallways to get signed off on items that clearly did not apply to me. But then again, I worked for the federal government and not much usually makes sense.
I am incredibly happy to free of a job with a boss and timesheets. I still have a job, but I am now my own boss and I can set my own hours. In fact, I have worked with Annabelle to set our own schedule where we usually go to bed around 11:00 p.m. and don’t get going for the day until 10:30 a.m. Its great! I know we won’t be getting that extra paycheck every two weeks, but now part of my new job is to help us stay within the budget that we create together at the beginning of every month.
Daniel and I started Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover in January of 2005. It is because we have “lived like no one else”, and followed this book, that I am now able to stay at home. Paying down our debt and learning to name every dollar before the month begins has been one of the most amazing and freeing things we have ever done.
I am looking forward to the next few years of being a baby factory and focused on pregnancy, feeding, and potty training. It is quite a different job from sitting in a cubicle at a computer and getting routine appraisals to tell me how well I am doing my job, but I am excited to embrace this next challenge in my life.
Annabelle turns 1 month old today! She is doing really well. She is beginning to be awake more, which is fun for us. Annabelle is still making her dolphin sounds. We often call her “dolphin.”
Here are some pictures of her and her friends and family.
Look at that smile!
Fun in the office with Mom and Dad.
Chilling at the park and picking flowers.
Baby bump!
Uncle Chris, Aunt Brandi, and Cousin Andrea got to meet Annabelle last week.
Sleepy time with Pastor Larry and Miss Lynette. Look how Annabelle fits in Pastor Larry’s arms!
Our cat, Samuel, also came to meet Annabelle. He thought she smelled nice.
Kisses for Baby Annabelle! We had fun at the park that day with McKenna, Darah, and Annabelle’s boyfriend, Connor.
