You Can Now Recycle Your Empty Shampoo Bottle

I just heard from my friend Melia that the San Antonio Recycling Program now accepts plastics that are labeled 1 through 7. They used to only accept number 1 and 2 recyclables. Most plastic things like plastic party cups, take out plastics, shampoo bottles, etc. are labeled 1 through 7. They even take plastic bags tied together in a bundle! No more dragging them to HEB drop off, which always looks like a trash can out front to me and I wonder if they even recycle what is put in that bin.
From the SA Recycling website:
Plastics: Labeled #1 through #7. Look for the recycling symbol
on the bottom. Remove lids and rinse any remaining food or liquids from containers or trays. Examples include: beverage bottle, shampoo and lotion bottles, meat trays, condiment bottles, prescription and medicine bottles, plastic grocery bags tied together into bundle.
So use those recycle bins!

medicine bottles is a nice addition – i don’t have a lot of Rx’s, but they add up, and you only need so many “holders for computer screws and parts.”
Since I take so many meds I have a box full of medicine bottles which I hate to throw away and you are right that you only need a few to store small parts. Since I do not have SA recycle I will take them to you to recycle if that is ookay.
Hey Mom – that is totally okay. You are welcome to fill up our recycle bin.
Can I bring my recycling to your house? I don’t know where to take my recycling. Hope all is well.
Hey Jennifer!
If you are in a house you can request a green recycle bin by calling 311 or filling out the form at this link: http://www.sanantonio.gov/sacr/form.asp?Category=Recycle%20Bin%20Request&Dept=ES
If you are in an apartment I would check with the office about recycling, they may have a program you don’t know about.
